School Land Trust Program Report 2008-09

Meetings of the Dixie High Community Council are held the second Tuesday of each month at 4:00 in the Counseling Conference at Dixie High School, 350 East 700 South, St. George, Utah.

During school year 2007-08, school land trust funds were used to support school goals regarding improving student learning in the following ways:

  • Hire math aides in algebra classrooms.
  • Hire staff to facilitate Rebound program.
  • Provide math tutoring after school and at lunch.
  • Provide ACT prep courses.
  • Provide Smartboards and electronic response systems for classrooms.
  • Allow teachers to attend Advanced Placement conferences.
  • Provide books, periodicals and research tools.
  • Allow professional  author to visit Dixie High.
  • Allow Civil War re-enactment to come to Dixie High.
  • Provide support for Academic Decathlon.
  • Provide classroom maps and supplies.

To date, the Dixie High Community Council has approved and overseen the budget for School Land Trust funds, served as an advisory board for our school improvement efforts, and provided feedback about current concerns at school.  Council members have also been serving on Focus Groups and the Leadership Team to guide our school through accreditation.  Their contributions are invaluable.  To each member of our Community Council, THANK YOU!
