Sterling Scholar

To all Sterling Scholar Hopefuls:

Thank you for your interest in the Sterling Scholar program. This page is designed to provide you with most, if not all, of the information you will need to plan your future as a Dixie High School Sterling Scholar Candidate.

You may already be aware that the Utah Sterling Scholar program is the single largest scholarship program for Utah high school students. There are many scholarships, offered by our state’s best colleges and universities. The scholarship amounts vary from region to region and from college to college within the state, and the Southwest Region – including Washington, Kane, Iron, Garfield and Beaver counties – offers some of the highest in the state. But the best part about competing in this prestigious competition isn’t really the money; it’s the opportunity to add to your personal and professional experience in an important and meaningful way. It’s also about the honor you bring to yourself, your family and your school.

Winners of the school-level competition, which will take place in November, will be honored by having their photographs displayed in the Sterling Scholar Hall of Fame, located on the first floor. In addition, school winners will represent Dixie High School at the Regional competition next spring.

While only high school seniors are eligible to compete, it is never too early to begin preparing for your competition. So whether you are a freshman, a sophomore, a junior, or a senior, be sure to check out the information located in the links in the right-hand sidebar. Also, contact the advisor(s) (left-hand sidebar) for the category or categories in which you intend to compete to get the tools and tips you need to complete the application process.

Meanwhile, get busy being involved in both school and community activities, including – but not limited to – clubs, sports, community outreach programs, and volunteer organizations. Keep careful track of everything you do and all the awards and certificates you earn. Very importantly, take lots and lots of photos.

Thanks again for your interest in the Sterling Scholar program. We look forward to working with you and supporting your efforts during the competition! Remember to click on the links to the right to get more information, and to contact Mrs. Davis if you have questions. Her email address is malissa.davis@washk12.org.

Sincerely,

Mr. Brooks Mrs. Davis
